A Legacy of Safety & Innovation.
The story of the **National Biosafety Authority (NBA)** began with a vision to position Ghana as a leader in safe scientific advancement. With the rapid global growth of modern biotechnology, the Government of Ghana recognized the need for a robust regulatory framework.
"In 2011, the passage of the **Biosafety Act (Act 831)** marked a turning point, formally establishing the NBA as the sole regulator for Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs)."
Since then, we have evolved from a legislative concept into a fully operational authority, equipped with world-class technical committees and international partnerships. Our history is built on the principle that science must always be guided by safety.
