Upholding Regulatory Excellence in Ghana
To regulate, oversee, and manage activities involving genetically modified organisms and related products in Ghana to ensure biosafety, protect human health, preserve biodiversity, and safeguard the environment, in accordance with the Biosafety Act, 2011 (Act 831) and international obligations including the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety.

Contained Use & Confined Field Trials
We evaluate, authorize, and monitor research activities involving Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) conducted within secure laboratory containment, greenhouses, or controlled field trial plots prior to environmental release.

Our structured approach ensures that every biotechnology activity in Ghana undergoes a transparent and scientifically sound evaluation.

Submission of biotech or GMO applications for review via our regulatory portal.
Scientific Review
Rigorous risk assessment by our technical committee to ensure environmental safety.
